As of 1/8/19, when a PIMS integrates with Smart Flow and sends over inventory items, there is not a way to specify which category these items fall into (e.g. procedure, medication).
If a PIMS has this information already (say, this inventory item is a medication) and could send that over to Smart Flow when initially setting up the integration, then a practice manager wouldn't need to manually assign categories after the inventory items arrive there.
Although this request is from the DVMAX Product team, the request is for Smart Flow to enable an integration that allows this for any PIMS.
