Currently when setting up a treatment the following picker types are available
1) Initials 2) Numeric 3) Dropdown


With any of them you can override the default (ie 2 letters for initials or 3 digits for numbers or pre-canned choices for the dropdown) and type whatever you'd like.
In an effort to save time since overriding the defaults causes somewhat of a delay in the app. More importantly defaulting to free form text would force (at least make them consider doing so anyway) the user to enter more than just their initials.

Would it be possible to add "comments" or "free form text field" as a default option if you'd simply like to be able to type a sentence or two?

An example is our treatment for observations...we don't want just initials...we don't want canned choices and we don't want numbers but rather would prefer for them to be prompted to type a sentence or two.
