Logging of Controlled Drugs on SFS...a Better Way.

In New York State (amongst others I'm sure) it is VERY important that we accurately log controlled drugs. We have to do this in 2 places 1) the medical record 2) paper log books. Ideally we would like to be able to record the vial number directly into SFS rather than (because it is an extra step) having to log into a computer and into ezyVet (our practice management software which is integrated with SFS).
Would it be possible when adding a medication to a patient's SFS that there would be a check box (or an iPad "slider" no/yes) to check/choose when it is a controlled substance?
When completing a treatment involving a controlled substance it would somehow prompt the user to fill in a field for the vial number (this process being driven by the fact that the check box was checked that it is a controlled substance).
That vial number is then sent back to SFS and stored with the medication list so that it can easily be recalled and viewed as needed.
