Highlighting multiple boxes is dismally depressing and time consuming.
Say I want to start IV fluids in 3 hours and has a low temperature that should have hourly temps for 4 hours. The template for hospital care starts fluid at the current hour so would need to make 3 clicks for each line on each hour, or 24 clicks to adjust the fluid rate and cumulative fluid lines. Then 12 clicks to have 4 hours highlighted in the temperature line. That is a 36 mouse clicks to change fluid rate and temperature assessment time for 4 hours.
Possible ways to do this-Shift or Ctrl and a mouse click, or double click box auto highlights yellow and if you want a different color then need to do manually. Perhaps shift right click is yellow and Ctrl right click is pink. Perhaps a highlight tool on the computer so when you click on this tool the mouse will highlight whatever color is selected and could rapidly highlight or unhighlight multiple boxes quickly.
A twist on this is that having the ability to click and highlight column AND row with mouse and get all boxes to highlight at once would be awesome! When the hospital care template gets added at 10p and the initial TPR was 9p then the entire line of TPR needs to get unhighlighted or the technicians have to see it and say, silly doctors didn't mean to do that and they can quickly un-highlight it. Stealing their tablet is annoying to them and having 3 tablets for doctors to use for highlighting makes for very expensive highlighters.
