working in a very high volume hospital it can be hard to look through all patients every hour. This can lead to missed important medications such as pain medications, seizure mecications or critical blood glucose checks. I think having a color codeded red/yellow/green would make it easier to prioritizes patients for the hour. Example: Red- pain medication, seizure medication, glucose checks and the ability to turn any treat into a red if doctor feels the need; like bp checks on a critical patient. Yellow- other medications which are not quite as time sensitive. Green- this can be for fluid checks and vitals again if it is a critical patient dr will have ability to turn that into a red. When you have 40+ patients in a white board it takes a lot of time just trying to look through to see what patient is due for something highly important.
Agreed, even w arriving early for shifts before rounds, have to then do vitals and then write out/build chart listing off all things needed for my patients based on priority. Would be great for the software to help simplify this.
