Specifically for fluids, when you update the weight the fluid order automatically changes back to whatever smart flow thinks is "maintenance" for the patient. This can be so dangerous if a patient is on a CRI with their fluids. For example, if a patient received IVF at HALF maintenance with 2mg/kg/day metoclopramide CRI (receiving remainder of fluid needs via NGT feeding), and then the weight is updated, smart flow will automatically reset the fluid rate to FULL maintenance, but leave the fluid additives the same, this means that the patient is nor getting TWICE as much drug as is needed.
